Wild Weekly Photo Challenge #10 – Flying

I’m participating in the online adventure travel magazine LetsBeWild.com’s  Wild Weekly Photo Challenge for bloggers.  This week’s Challenge is:  Flying!

I knew immediately, when I saw the theme for this weeks photo challenge, where my entry was coming from.

For the past 20 years, for a couple of weekends in January and February, chicken farmers in Sheffield Mills, Nova Scotia have been feeding the Eagles and providing an opportunity one would not normally get; a chance to observe (and photograph) large numbers of Bald Eagles and other birds of prey feeding in the wild (sort of).  The local community has created a festival of sorts, called Eaglewatch, including pancake breakfasts and live entertainment in the community hall nearby.

Here are some of the photos I took in 2011 (click on them to see the larger version):

    Majestic birds! Nice flying photos.

  2. These are awesome ! Thank you so much for finding my Bald Eagles in Maryland and sharing with me the ones you have in Nova Scotia. It’s encouraging to see their populations rise so well. Thanks again and great meeting you!
